Finding My Voice Again: A Leadership Journey Back to Writing

You might have noticed it's been quiet here. Really quiet. The kind of quiet that wasn't exactly planned, but somehow happened in between leading transformational initiatives, managing multi-million dollar operations, and trying to remember if I actually ate lunch today. (Spoiler alert: I did not)

Life in healthcare leadership has a way of filling every available minute. Between implementing new clinical programs, driving operational efficiencies, and mentoring the next generation of healthcare leaders, something had to give. Unfortunately, that "something" was sharing my thoughts and experiences here.

But here's the thing about leadership lessons: they're meant to be shared. As I reflect on my journey from bedside nursing to executive leadership, I'm reminded of Ecclesiastes 3:1 - "To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven." While the past season has been one of intense focus on operational excellence and team development, perhaps this new season includes making time to share these experiences with others who might benefit from them.

Why Come Back Now?

The irony isn't lost on me that as healthcare leaders, we constantly encourage our teams to share best practices, yet sometimes we struggle to make time to do the same. I've been reminded daily of how much I've learned from others who took the time to document their journeys.

Moving Forward

So here's my commitment: I'm making time to write again. Not because I have it all figured out (trust me, I don't), but because leadership is a journey best traveled together. Expect posts about:

  • Real-world leadership challenges and solutions

  • Healthcare innovation and technology

  • Building resilient teams

  • And maybe occasionally admitting how many times I've had to Google "how to pivot table" (because being a leader doesn't mean you remember everything from that Excel workshop)

An Invitation

If you're still here after my extended silence - thank you. Your support means more than you know. And if you're new here, welcome! I invite you to join me in this renewed journey of sharing, learning, and growing together as healthcare leaders.

Whether you're a seasoned executive or just starting your leadership journey, I hope you'll find value in these posts. And maybe, just maybe, they'll encourage you to share your own stories too.

After all, as Proverbs 27:17 reminds us, "As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another." Even if sometimes that sharpening happens between meetings, over cold coffee, or during those rare quiet moments when we finally make time to reflect and write.

Here's to new seasons, shared wisdom, and maybe occasionally admitting that, yes, sometimes leaders need to Google basic Excel functions, too. Because authenticity in leadership isn't about being perfect - it's about being real.

Stay tuned. There's more to come.
